A big name for a great bunny. It may be that our Emma didn't smell as lovely as the rose Lady Emma Hamilton, but she had a heart of a fighter... till the end. But let's start at the begin.
Ja, Emma sieht da noch etwas ramponiert aus, weil sie auch damals schon einen Abszess im Gesichtchen hatte, der relativ frisch operiert war.
This was the first picture I made from Emma, dated 02nd April 2009. They put her into my arms at the animal shelter: "This is the only one we have to sell", I was told. I was looking for a new partner for bunny Gandalf. So I took her with me and gave her the promise, that she now have a Forever-Home.
Yes, she did look a bit worn out, but that was because an abscess was removed from her face some days before.
Neugierig war sie aber schon damals. Gleich wurde das neue Zuhause und die komische Frau mit dem schwarzen Kasten beäugt.
Curious from the first day, she inspected her new home and the woman with the strange black box in her hand.
Oh ja, und dann war ja da noch dieser andere Kaninchen-Mann, der meinte hier der Chef zu sein. Sie liess ihn im Glauben... öhm, fünf Minuten. Danach war klar: Die Kleine war der Boss.
Oh and yes, there was this strange guy, who believed to be the boss. Well, she left Gandalf this illusion for... ehm, well, about five minutes, and then she took over the reign.
They were soul mates. Okay, sometimes they had a little argument but only to cuddle the next minute again. Gandalf loved her so dearly, that she sometimes lost a little bit of fur on her nose from his kisses :o).
But then there was the year 2015: Again Emma had an abscess at her chin that couldn't be removed... it has wandered to deep into her bone. That was the moment when she and I deepend our relationship. Every morning from that moment she had to get her medicine and that gave her another two years. She was so brave and endured this procedure every morning without being nasty. But as she was getting older, she also started to have problems with hopping around and more and more life became exhausting for her. When finally last Monday she did no longer munch her pea flakes, which she really did love, and in the next morning still didn't eat but only sniff at her meal, time was there to say goodbye. It was hard, but I'm happy for her, that she doesn't have to suffer any longer. And for all who are worried about Gandalf now: he eats. He is also now over ten years old and therefore he will be staying with us till the end. He has also his Forever-Home with us and at his age it would be a great stress to socialize him with another bunny. I won't going on with keeping bunnies and so he is the last bunny in the Gwundergarten.
What else? We enjoyed the last hot summer days in our garden.
Die Rosen geben noch mal Gas...
The roses are in flower again...
... as well as the Japanese anemones.
And as always tomcat Noah is cheering us ...
... by enduring all our foolery :o). I can't help but this picture remembers me to the Addams Family and the ice cold hand.
Now we hope for a mild autumn so that we could enjoy our terrace a little bit longer. I know, others buy winter clothes or winter tires and we... summer furniture. You don't have to understand this, really :o). But after fourteen years I suddenly couldn't stand the dark table and chairs no longer. You should have seen the eyes of cat Noah, when he discovered it. I bet he believed it was a gift to him... somebody terribly misunderstood something and I'm not sure if it really was him.
That's it for the moment. I wish you all a very relaxing weekend, and if the sun will shine again, you know where to find me... if Noah does allow it.
Take care / Häbet's guet
